Yesterday, the skies turned silent over Ahmedabad.
Air India Flight AI171, a Boeing 787 en route to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Onboard were 242 people – 230 passengers and 12 crew.
As of now, nearly all are feared dead. A few lives were lost on the ground as well. Just one survivor has been confirmed.
Lives in Motion, Stopped Mid-Air
“These were not just numbers. They were stories in motion.”
People were traveling for countless reasons – to work, to return home, to begin again. Maybe some were first-time flyers. Others, seasoned travelers. All of them had plans, worries, dreams.
In mere seconds, those futures vanished.
As Someone Who Loves Flying…
I often describe flight as freedom – the lift, the lightness, the thrill of seeing the world fall away beneath you. It is magic to me.
But this tragedy reminds us: flight is also responsibility, risk, and very real humanity in motion. For all its wonder, aviation demands reverence.
We Remember Them
🕯️ To the families, friends, and communities grieving today: I am so sorry.
There are no words powerful enough. But please know – many of us around the world mourn with you.
“We honor not just the crash, but the lives. Not just the numbers, but the names.”
Let the Sky Remain Sacred
The sky invites us to dream – but we must never forget that it holds lives. Real, irreplaceable lives.
And today, we lower our heads.
We light a candle.
And we remember.
